TP-Link Tapo P100 4-pack: four smart Wi-Fi plugs you control via app

Not every smart plug needs to measure power. If you simply want to switch a floor lamp, fairy lights, a fan or a charger conveniently, the Tapo P100 does the job. With the 4-pack, you get enough plugs straight away to kit out several rooms.

You control each plug via the Tapo app, whether you're at home or out and about. Schedules switch the hallway lamp on automatically in the evening, and a countdown timer cuts power to your phone charger after a set time. While you're on holiday, Away Mode switches lights on and off at varying times so your home looks lived in.

The P100 connects directly to your Wi-Fi, with no extra bridge required. The current version also uses Bluetooth for initial setup. With Alexa or Google Assistant, you can switch the plugs by voice too. Thanks to the compact design, there's usually still room next to them on a power strip.

Worth knowing: the P100 doesn't measure power consumption. If that matters to you, the Tapo P110 is the right choice. According to TP-Link's datasheet for version V2, the maximum load is 10 A or 2300 W, so it isn't meant for power-hungry appliances such as fan heaters. You'll also need 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
