SanDisk microSDXC for Nintendo Switch 256 GB: licensed memory card for more game storage

The Nintendo Switch's internal storage fills up fast, especially if you buy games digitally: larger titles quickly take up tens of gigabytes, plus updates and add-ons. The SanDisk microSDXC for Nintendo Switch adds 256 GB to the console. It slots in under the kickstand and the Switch picks it up automatically as storage.

The card is officially licensed by Nintendo and carries the matching Switch design. Technically it is a microSDXC card with a UHS-I interface. SanDisk quotes up to 100 MB/s read and up to 90 MB/s write; these are maximums under ideal conditions. In practice the Switch's own card reader also limits the speed.

Outside the console, the card works in any device that supports microSDXC, such as cameras, tablets or handhelds. According to the manufacturer it is rated for operating temperatures from −25 to 85 °C, and SanDisk offers a limited lifetime warranty.

Worth knowing: this card is meant for the original Nintendo Switch (including OLED and Lite). The Nintendo Switch 2 needs a microSD Express card for games; it only uses a classic UHS-I card like this one to transfer screenshots and videos. If you are moving from a smaller card, copy the data over via a PC first, otherwise the Switch will re-download your games.
