Ring Outdoor Camera Plus Battery 2-pack: wireless 2K security cameras

The battery version of the Ring Outdoor Camera Plus is for anyone who wants to keep an eye on the outside without running cables. The set contains two cameras, for example for the front door and garden or the driveway and patio. Each camera has a swappable battery and a mount for wall, ceiling or table.

The cameras record in 2K with a 160-degree diagonal field of view. In low light, Ring optimises the image so that a nearby street lamp is enough for a colour picture. You set motion zones in the Ring app so that not every passing car triggers an alert. Two-way talk lets you speak to visitors or the delivery driver, and you can sound a siren remotely if needed.

The cameras use dual-band Wi-Fi 6. Ring recommends at least 3.5 Mbps upload, otherwise video quality drops. With an Echo Dot you get spoken alerts, and on an Echo Show you can see the live view.

Worth knowing: without a Ring Home subscription you only get live view and motion alerts. Saving recordings, watching them later and person detection require the paid subscription; 30 days are included free. Also make sure the Wi-Fi signal at the mounting spot is good, and recharge the batteries regularly depending on use or add a solar panel. When filming outdoors, avoid capturing public paths or neighbouring properties; you can restrict this with the privacy settings in the Ring app.
