FRITZ!Repeater 2700: Wi-Fi 7 mesh repeater with 2.5 gigabit LAN for the wall socket

The FRITZ!Repeater 2700 plugs straight into a wall socket and brings Wi-Fi to rooms the FRITZ!Box signal no longer reaches. It transmits with Wi-Fi 7 on both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands at the same time; the manufacturer quotes up to 6.5 Gbps gross combined. Wi-Fi 7 mainly pays off when your devices support the standard too – older devices still connect without any problem.

Paired with a FRITZ!Box, the repeater becomes part of FRITZ! Mesh: press the connect button on both devices, the repeater takes over network name and password, and the mesh automatically steers your devices to the best access point. You can change settings later through the web interface on a computer or phone.

On the underside there is a 2.5 gigabit LAN socket for wired devices such as a console, smart TV or IP camera. Alternatively, cable the repeater to your router and use it as a LAN bridge to cover longer distances without wireless loss. A flat LAN cable is included. According to the manufacturer, the repeater receives regular automatic updates and comes with a five-year warranty.

Worth knowing: the 2700 does not support the 6 GHz band. The mesh features only show their strengths with a FRITZ!Box; with routers from other brands it works as a regular repeater. The quoted data rates are gross figures under ideal conditions, and real-world throughput is considerably lower. Its shape covers the socket and will not fit every power strip.
