FRITZ!Mesh Set 1600: two Wi-Fi 6 repeaters for whole-home mesh Wi-Fi

A single repeater is often enough for one room, but not for a rambling flat in an older building or a house with several floors. That's exactly what the FRITZ!Mesh Set 1600 is for: the box contains two FRITZ!Repeater 1200 AX units, letting you boost your Wi-Fi in two places at once.

Both repeaters use Wi-Fi 6 on 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. Together with a FRITZ!Box, they form a mesh network in which the box controls all access points centrally and steers your devices to the right one. Setup is done via the WPS button. Without a FRITZ!Box, the repeaters also work with other routers, but without the full range of mesh features.

Each repeater has a Gigabit LAN port, for a smart TV or PC, for example. If there's already a network cable somewhere, you can connect one repeater via LAN and take load off the wireless link. Guest access, parental controls with time budgets and a Wi-Fi timer are also on board.

Worth knowing: plan the locations in advance, ideally so that each repeater still has good reception from the FRITZ!Box or the other repeater. The status indicator helps with this. If you only need better Wi-Fi in one room, a single repeater will do.
