FRITZ!Box 7590 AX: DSL router with Wi-Fi 6, phone system and smart home hub

The FRITZ!Box 7590 AX is built for DSL connections and comes with a modem for VDSL with supervectoring up to 300 Mbit/s as well as ADSL2+. Via the WAN port, it can also be used as a router behind a cable or fibre modem, and if needed, a USB mobile broadband stick can step in as a backup.

For Wi-Fi, the box relies on Wi-Fi 6 with four antennas per band. Up to 2400 Mbit/s is possible on 5 GHz and up to 1200 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz. As a mesh master, it integrates FRITZ!Repeaters, so your Wi-Fi can be extended across your whole home if needed. Wired devices can use four Gigabit LAN ports, plus there are two USB 3.0 ports, for storage or printers, for example.

Phone calls are covered too: the DECT base supports up to six cordless phones, two analogue ports accommodate existing phones or a fax machine, and five answering machines are built in. Via DECT ULE, you can control compatible smart home devices such as plugs or radiator thermostats, including with schedules and if-then rules.

Worth knowing: the box is primarily designed for DSL. If you have cable or fibre, you'll need an additional modem or should go for a suitable FRITZ!Box model. If you still use ISDN phones, check the ports beforehand, as the manufacturer's datasheet for this variant lists only analogue ports and DECT.
