Philips HD2581/90 Daily Collection: compact 2-slice toaster with bun warmer
- 8 browning levels on a dial
- Integrated bun warming rack
- Defrost and reheat
- Stop button and high lift for small slices
- Removable crumb tray
- 830 W, automatic shut-off
The Philips HD2581/90 from the Daily Collection is a straightforward two-slice toaster for the breakfast table. It has two large slots and eight browning levels that you choose on a dial. At 830 W it is built for a small footprint rather than speed.
The integrated bun rack is handy: flip it over the slots and warm up rolls or croissants. Frozen bread goes through in one cycle with the defrost function, and the reheat button warms up slices that have gone cold. The stop button cancels at any time, and the high-lift function raises small slices far enough to grab them without reaching into the slot.
For cleaning, you slide out the crumb tray, and spare cord wraps up under the base. At 275 × 156 × 188 mm it takes up little counter space and Philips lists an extra automatic shut-off.
Worth knowing: the housing is plastic rather than stainless steel. The 0.85 m cord is short. Very thick slices or large bagels won't fit every slot. If you regularly toast lots of slices, a four-slice or long-slot toaster suits you better.
