Rummikub Original Classic: tile game with number tiles for 2 to 4 players

Rummikub from Jumbo takes the idea of rummy and moves it onto tiles. Instead of cards you use plastic tiles numbered 1 to 13 in four colours, with every combination appearing twice, plus two jokers. Each player starts with 14 tiles on their rack, hidden from the others.

According to the rules, your first meld has to be worth at least 30 points. Valid combinations are runs of consecutive numbers in one colour, or groups of the same number in different colours. After that, each turn you either add at least one tile or draw one from the face-down pool. The real twist: you may rearrange every combination already on the table and rebuild them however you like, as long as everything is valid at the end of your turn. The first player with no tiles left wins.

The box contains 106 tiles, four racks and the rules. Jumbo recommends it for 2 to 4 players aged 7 and up and quotes around 20 minutes per game. The rules are quick to explain, but rearranging the table demands more and more overview as you play.

Worth knowing: a single set isn't designed for more than four players. The tiles are small and not suitable for children under three. When there's a lot of rearranging, individual turns can take much longer than planned; no sand timer or timer is included.
