Philips PureProtect Mini 900 AC0951/13: quiet air purifier with app

The Philips PureProtect Mini 900 (AC0951/13) is a compact air purifier for bedrooms, children's rooms or home offices. It's worth a look if you want to reduce dust, pollen or odours in the air without setting up a large unit. According to Philips, it's suitable for rooms up to 65 square metres.

The air passes through a pre-filter and a combined NanoProtect HEPA and activated carbon filter. The HEPA part traps even ultrafine particles down to 0.003 microns, while the activated carbon deals with odours. A PM2.5 sensor continuously measures fine dust levels and regulates the fan speed itself in automatic mode.

At night, you switch to sleep mode: the unit then runs at 20.5 dB on a low setting, and the display goes dark. Using the app, you control the purifier via Wi-Fi, create schedules and view air quality over time. Power consumption is 23 watts at most.

Worth knowing: the filter should be replaced about once a year, and you clean the pre-filter in between every one to two months. Factor in the running costs of replacement filters. The room size figure is a manufacturer's rating; in very large or open-plan rooms, cleaning takes correspondingly longer.
