Duracell Plus AA (20-pack): alkaline batteries to keep a household supply

This pack holds 20 AA alkaline batteries, designated LR6 under the IEC standard. They come from Duracell's Plus range. Each cell delivers the 1.5-volt nominal voltage typical of alkaline batteries.

AA is the most common battery size around the house: remote controls, wall clocks, wireless mice, game controllers, torches, toys and digital thermometers often use it. With 20 in the box you have a supply for several devices instead of buying small packs again and again. Alkaline cells are best suited to devices with low to moderate power draw that need to run for a long time.

How long a battery actually lasts depends heavily on the device: a wall clock often runs a very long time on one set, a game controller with rumble much less. Percentages on packaging always refer to specific comparison conditions, so your own device is the better yardstick in everyday use.

Worth knowing: these are single-use batteries and cannot be recharged. Always replace all cells in a device at the same time, and don't mix old with new or different brands. For very power-hungry devices such as camera flashes or controllers in constant use, NiMH rechargeables may be the better choice. Spent batteries don't belong in household waste – take them to a collection point. Store the pack somewhere cool and dry, out of reach of children.
