Samsung Portable SSD T7 2 TB: slim external SSD with up to 1,050 MB/s

The Samsung Portable SSD T7 in its 2 TB version (MU-PC2T0H/WW, blue) is an external SSD for anyone who wants to back up large amounts of data quickly or carry it between devices: photos and videos, project folders, backups or a games library for console and PC. At 85 x 57 x 8 millimetres, it's about the size of a credit card, just a little thicker.

Over USB 3.2 Gen 2, the T7 reaches up to 1,050 MB/s read and up to 1,000 MB/s write according to Samsung, provided your computer has the right port. That means large video files transfer much faster than with a conventional external hard drive. There are two cables in the box, USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A, so you can connect older computers without an adapter too.

The SSD protects your data with AES-256 hardware encryption, and you set up password protection using Samsung's software. With Samsung Magician on Windows, macOS and Android, you can also check the drive's health and keep the firmware up to date. According to the manufacturer, the aluminium casing can withstand drops of up to two metres.

Worth knowing: you only get full speed from a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port; on older USB ports the SSD will be correspondingly slower. For consoles or certain systems, you may need to reformat it. If you need dust and water protection, the T7 Shield is the better choice. Samsung provides a three-year limited warranty.
